These better be the Berkshire mountains now or we're in trouble...
/Jun 19 - Ludlow, MA to Goshen, MA: 43 miles
Great breakfast at my cousins before setting off for 2nd breakfast at my aunt and uncles, and then really hitting the road.
Sunny. Hot.
Bechertown was first town.
Lunch was a lobster roll at the bottom of a big hill (before climbing it), and after eating an ice cream because they could provide that immediately.
Our route was all bike trail through the cute towns of Amherst and Hadley, bypassing the cute part, but definitely the most beautiful bike trail that I have ever been on (notwottuck rail trail)
Then Northampton followed by a 40 minute long 8 mph climb in lowest gear up rte 9 to Goshen and camp at the DAR state forest.
Thank you DAR for the overflow camp spot for cyclists.
Dinner was restricted to a what I could find at a small general store in Goshen- basically canned chicken ( yes eating chicken now) and mac&cheese. At least that was the plan before my husband showed up w heather and dinner!!! (And b'fast which I forgot to buy). So we're still well fueled. Thank you Geoff!!
